Weekend Detox

The summer is all about having fun … but that doesn’t mean that the activities you choose for your Saturdays and Sundays can’t also leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the work week again.

That’s why a whole weekend of detox is exactly what you need. Instead of staying up late, plan a whole weekend of fun and healthy activities. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling!

Farmer’s Market Trip: When hitting up your local farmers market this weekend, look for perfectly in-season produce. Right now, that means all kinds of berries (which contain tons of vitamin C for radiant skin).

There’s also sweet corn, green beans, and peaches. You can serve them sliced over cottage cheese for a light, healthy breakfast.

Get Gardening: There’s no better place to spend a sunny afternoon than right in your very own vegetable garden. It’s a great way to get exercise while having fun.

If you live in a city and don’t have room for a garden, plant a few herbs on your windowsill and throw a planter decorating party with your friends.

Make A Mason Jar Planter: Speaking of herbs, jump on the mason jar trend and try planting them in jars. Hang them in a sunny spot with a little twine and make sure to fill the bottom of the jar with rocks to promote drainage.

Minimal Beauty Products: Admit it, you’ve secretly always wanted to give your skin a break and have a makeup-free weekend. Summer weekends are no time to go heavy on the products: choose sheer, creamy formulas that won’t slide off in the humidity, and embrace your hair’s natural texture by applying a little anti-frizz product and twisting it into a braid or bun.

Just remember that for all outdoor activities, sun protection is a must! Put on SPF and reapply it throughout the day, and wear a hat (and don’t forget to bring along Simple Skincare Radiance Cleansing Wipes for a midday pick-me-up).
