As the air gets chillier and the nights get a little colder you may notice your skin becoming more sensitive as the seasonal transition from summer to fall begins.
This happens because skin reacts to changes in the climate and the environment. This doesn’t mean that you’re stuck with irritated skin until the leaves start to fall. The key is a few preemptive actions that can help soothe and calm your skin.
Change Your Cleanse
Skin can get oilier in the summer. If you switched to an oil-fighting face wash during the summer months, now is the time to sub it for a moisturizing facial wash.
As your skin becomes a little drier in the colder climate, an oil-fighting facial wash can worsen irritation. If you’ve never switched skincare products seasonally before, start now and of course if you have naturally very oily skin, keep using your go-to wash.
Turn up the Moisture
Great move changing your moisturizer to an oil-free formula in the summer! Now, add a rich facial cream to your skincare routine. A lotion that’s paraben-free has glycerin and vitamin E is a great way to moisturize your skin without irritating it with harsh chemicals.
The seasonal transition is a time to be kind to your skin and to nourish it. It might seem unnecessary but for those of us who have sensitive skin, we do need to have a different set of skincare products for the colder seasons.
Don’t be afraid to experiment a little to find out which products are best for your skin and if you’re not sure, reach out to your dermatologist for a consultation.
