A Healthy Holiday Finger Food Your Skin Will Love

The holidays are a terrific time of the year to unleash your inner gourmet chef and make a delish and healthy holiday dish.

 

When you’re planning a holiday menu, remember that making a healthy holiday plate doesn’t always mean making a green salad. As your guests rush from party to party, they’ll appreciate a menu that’s a bit on the lighter side.

 

One great recipe to try is this easy beet canapé dish. The bright colors make it perfectly seasonal, and the beets contain a large dose of foliate, which help your skin by blocking skin-damaging UV rays. Here’s how you can make it for your holiday soirée.

 

Beet and Camembert Canapés

 

SERVES: Approx. 4 People

 

INGREDIENTS

 

1 baguette (or rustic whole wheat bread), cut into slices

 

3 tbsp olive oil

5 beets

 

4 ounces of Brie of Camembert cheese, sliced

 

10 basil leaves, julienned

 

Salt and pepper

 

DIRECTIONS

 

To prepare the beets, peel their skin, drizzle with olive oil and roast for 20 minutes at 425 degrees F and allow them to cool. When the beets are cool, slice into 1-inch triangles.

 

Toast the baguette slices on medium heat, until crispy and golden. Layer with a slice of goat cheese, a beet slice and garnish with basil. Serve at room temperature and enjoy!
